Frequently Asked Questions

How does the face reading work?
Your photo is sent to an AI model trained on Taylor Northcutt's classical physiognomy methodology. The AI analyzes facial features including face shape, zones, symmetry, and proportions to generate a detailed character reading. The analysis typically takes 10-30 seconds.
Is my photo stored anywhere?
No. Your photo is transmitted to our AI service for analysis, then stored only on your device. Our proxy server is stateless and does not retain images. We have no server-side database of user photos or readings.
What does the free reading include?
The free reading provides your animal archetype and a brief character summary. A subscription unlocks the full reading: temperament blend, character portrait, traits, strengths, shadows, facial zones, asymmetry analysis, career fit, and historical figure match.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple. To cancel: open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Find Physiognomy and tap Cancel Subscription. You will retain access until the end of your billing period.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Open the app, go to the paywall screen, and tap "Restore Purchases." Your subscription will be restored using your Apple ID.
The reading says no face was detected. What should I do?
Make sure the face is well-lit, facing forward, and takes up most of the frame. Avoid heavy shadows, extreme angles, or sunglasses. A clear, neutral expression works best.
Can I read someone else's face?
Yes. Use the rear camera or select a photo from your library. The reading works on any face, not just selfies. Name the reading after the subject so you can find it in your history.
How do I delete my readings?
In the History tab, swipe left on any reading to reveal the delete option. To delete all readings, delete and reinstall the app.
I was charged but the reading is still locked. What happened?
Please try "Restore Purchases" first. If that doesn't resolve it, contact us with your Apple order number and we'll sort it out promptly.
What iOS version is required?
Physiognomy requires iOS 17 or later on iPhone. It is not available for iPad or Mac.
