Physiognomy: The Face Reader ("the App") is developed and operated by Marcus David Cyrus ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
The App allows you to capture or select face photos using your device camera or photo library. These photos are used solely to generate personality readings based on classical physiognomy traditions interpreted by artificial intelligence.
The AI-generated personality readings, along with the associated photos, are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework and the device filesystem. This data never leaves your device except as described in Section 2.
The App uses UserDefaults (on-device storage) to track whether you have used your one free reading. This is a simple boolean flag stored locally. It is not transmitted anywhere.
If you subscribe, Apple handles all payment processing through StoreKit 2. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details.
When you request a face reading, your photo is sent from your device to a stateless proxy server hosted on Vercel. The proxy forwards the image to Google's Gemini AI API for analysis. Here is what happens at each step:
After the reading is generated, the result is returned to your device. Your photo and reading are then stored locally on your device only.
The App does not collect, capture, or store biometric identifiers or biometric information as defined under BIPA. Face photos are processed by a third-party AI service (Google Gemini) solely to generate personality readings. The App does not create faceprints, facial geometry maps, or any biometric template. Photos are stored only on your device and are never stored on our servers.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the processing of your face photo is based on your explicit consent, which you provide each time you initiate a reading. You may withdraw consent at any time by simply not submitting photos. You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Since all data is stored on your device, you can delete it at any time through the App's history feature or by deleting the App. For any GDPR-related requests, contact us at the address below.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Since data is stored on your device, you have full control over it. California residents may contact us for any CCPA-related inquiries.
We collect face photos with your informed consent for the sole purpose of generating personality readings. The data is processed by Google's AI service and stored locally on your device. You may withdraw consent by ceasing to use the App. You may delete your data at any time through the App or by uninstalling it. For access or correction requests, contact us at the address below.
We do not share your personal data with third parties except as follows:
We do not use analytics services, advertising SDKs, or any tracking tools. We do not share data with advertisers.
The App does not track you. We do not use device fingerprinting, advertising identifiers, or analytics frameworks. We do not collect IP addresses, device identifiers, or usage patterns.
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact us and we will provide guidance on deleting local data.
All data transmission between your device, our proxy server, and Google's API occurs over HTTPS (TLS encryption). Photos and readings stored on your device are protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). We do not store any user data on servers, which eliminates server-side breach risk.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App and the effective date will be updated. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
